This car left for Aquilla, TX on June 1 and the restoration will be done by Billy Womack.  I'm hoping to get the same great quality workmanship on it that  he's well known for in the Dallas/Waco area. He only does Corvette restorations and his prices are reasonable.



He'll start on the body right away so maybe in the near future I'll start getting some shots of it as the restoration occurs. I decided to use him because of the beautiful work he did on my frame, his pricing structure and the fact he only restores Corvettes.










                                                


Some pictures illustrates how a professional gets the body off the frame.  Billy told me recently he has the body well underway - it's been stripped of paint and several repairs made to the rear and side panels and he's waiting for arrival of one more replacement fiberglass section for the front end.







The rear bumpers are being rechromed over in Indiana and will be sent directly to Texas when done for fitup to body.  The engine has been installed on the already completed frame .


 
I'm still searching E-Bay and also making Corvette Central rich buying up other new replacement items.
























 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Car will be 1960 Honduras maroon exterior with white coves;
interior will be 1959 black Al Knoch when done.

Corvette Texas Style – the Final Chapter


Well, after exactly two years and one week my 59 Corvette is finally back in Decatur. There are still some items to be completed (the hardtop isn’t finished yet, wipers and washer nozzles are not installed, convertible top needs to be installed) but overall the car looks and performs great.

Billy and Pete at “West Vettes” did a wonderful job on the restoration and to attest to that, I’ve showed it twice and won a trophy each time. Don’t ask what it cost – I’ve added up all the receipts and payments and it’s “a lot”. Worth every penny of it!!
To demonstrate the quality of workmanship and the faith I have in these guys, they now have my 57 Chevy convertible for a frame off total restoration.
